MEET THE STAFF

Our coaches and volunteers are dedicated to helping our youth find and grow into their potential. We have experienced coaches dedicated to unlocking the valuable life lessons a child can discover through sports.

  • Coach LaToya LeGree is a DeKalb native and graduate of Stephenson High School Class of 02. At the age of 16, she competed on the Youth USA Olympic Team in the jumps in Debrecen, Hungary. She was a member of the 2002 Girls State Champions. Coach Toya was a 3-time Triple Jump champion and GA state record holder. After high school, she went on to run track at Florida State University as a Full Scholarship Student Athlete. She earned several conference titles in the long & triple jump and several NCAA appearances. Since 2017, she has served as a CDJ Head Cheerleading Coach and Coach of Summer Track club. LaToya is extremely passionate about youth athletics and community involvement. If you were to ask her, what is your mantra? She would tell you, “Sports saved my life, and I am determined to pay it forward”

  • Coach LaToya works primarily with our Jumpers and 1500m runners. This niche group is comprised of 1500-meter runners, Long Jump, Triple Jump, and High Jump athletes.

 
 
  • Coach Demeche Bembry is from Stone Mountain, GA and he played football and basketball in High school. Coach Bembry later went on to coach football and track at the youth level for the last 15 years. In addition, he coached the Stephenson Middle School Boys and Girls Track Team for the last 5 years. Coach Bembry became interested in track and field when his two young sons began running at the age of 5. He recognized his admiration for the sport and decided to learn more. Coach Bembry developed and learned the proper running techniques and form from his mentor Coach Monica Ross. Coach Bembry believes there are many talented kids in the world, however, talent alone cannot beat a kid that will not quit, has the heart of a champion, gives their all, and works hard every day.

  • Coach Meche works primarily with our Short sprinters and relay groups. This niche group is comprised of 100-meter and 200-meter event athletes.

 
  • Coach Monica Bembry is from Atlanta, GA and played in multiple sports in high school, which included basketball, softball, and track. Coach M. Bembry is a graduate of Mercer University, and an educator. She has always enjoyed track and field and developed under her high school coaches along with Coach Monica Ross, a successful USATF youth coach and active board member. Additionally, she coached the Stephenson Middle School Boys and Girls Track Team the past five years. Coach M. Bembry favorite quote is “One thing that can never be sacrificed, is your preparation and your work ethic.”- Peyton Manning

  • Coach Monica works primarily with our long sprinters, 800-meter runners, and relay groups. This niche group is comprised of 400-meter and 800-meter event athletes.

 
 
  • Coach Stephen Starks, is from Decatur, GA. He grew up and developed his innate athletic abilities through various sports in DeKalb County.

    Coach Starks attended Tucker High School, where he lettered in three sports; — football, wrestling, and track & field. His coaching philosophy is rooted in building the technique and fundamentally improving those transformed behaviors into habits.

    He is the father to one and an uncle to 100+. He has coached many talented youth athletes and is looking forward to working with DeKalb Elite athletes.

  • Coach Starks works primarily with our middle-distance runners and jumpers. This niche group is comprised of 800-meter runners, 1500-meter runners, and the long jump and triple jump event athletes.

 
  • Coach Melanie Chapman is a native of Atlanta Ga. She began running track at 10yo and was introduced to the hurdles a year later. She has a host of State and Regional Championships. Melanie attended Charleston Southern University on a track and field scholarship for hurdles and later became a heptathlete. From 2006-2008 she became a cross country and track and field coach for AAU and USATF for a local Dekalb County track club where she specialized in developing and training hurdlers.

  • Coach Melanie works primarily with our Throwers. This niche group is comprised of Javelin, Shot Put, and Discus athletes.

 
 
  • Ragan LeGree is a native of Savannah, GA. She is the mother to two young ladies. She has been surrounded by youth sports her entire life. As a former athlete herself, she has a passion for mentoring young athletes through organized sports. Ragan participated in softball and flag girl activities during her developmental years. She brings her wealth of experience in project management and reconciling accounting books to the team. She has 25 years of accounting experience. She enjoys watching her grandchildren develop through athletics and likes virtual coloring books.
